Pen Pal Sweethearts, Jack & Shirley Godley Share Their Love Story As They Mark 60 Years Of Marriage

A couple, Shirley and Jack, who met as accidental pen pals are now celebrating 60 years of marriage, a rarity in this day and age. Shirley Kerrigan, 78, and Jack Godley, 82, from Sheffield, UK, have five children â Karen, Kevan, Donna, Lisa, and Debra, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren but who would have believed that all it took was for a 15 year old Shirley to respond to an advertisement in a newspaper by a seaman looking for a pen pal.
Jack says he received letters from different girls and passed some onto some of his shipmates at HMS Ganges in Ipswich but he accepted Shirley’s letter and he was only just 19,as reported by Metro UK.
